Welcome to Muskogee County Head Start and Early Head Start.  MCHS, a division of Green Country Behavioral Health Services, is a long-standing program, operating under the current grantee since 1997. The program is primarily center-based, with eleven home-based slots, and is geographically dispersed throughout Muskogee County in ten facilities, including grantee-owned facilities, Public School campuses and a two Child Care Centers. The program is funded to serve 345 children – 192 in Head Start, and 153 in Early Head Start.

MCHS specifically focuses on a two-generation approach that aims not only to prepare young children for future success in school but also their parents through programs designed to increase parenting skills, employability and earning potential. Our goal is that children enter school prepared for success, families create a nurturing and secure environment for their children and that families are connected to one another.

Our Vision:  In collaboration with our communities we will set the standard for a holistic approach to high quality learning and development.  Muskogee County Head Start/Early Head Start will provide an inclusive, safe, and fun environment where lifelong learning is fostered through research-based practices and industry-leading methods.

Our Mission  is to provide comprehensive school readiness services to preschool-age children to enhance their social and cognitive development through health, educational, nutritional, and social services.

Our method is to combine high quality early childhood education with innovative family services and resources.
